x Who We Are x

Shine P&P (SPP) was set up in 2004 having identified a gap in the market for the provision of management training coupled with coach/mentoring, especially for people in middle management / supervisory roles. Since its inception Shine has been promoting the value of coach/mentoring as an effective, low-cost and flexible business tool that taps into the existing human resources of any organisation. The core of our activities is represented by:

  • Designing and implementing mentoring programmes
  • Training mentors both at a certified (ILM) level or non certified level and inducting mentees
  • Train the trainer
  • Troubleshooting existing mentoring programmes
  • Promoting the use of mentoring software and mentoring platforms to simplify their running
  • Management training  (both soft and hard skills)

Shine has developed its own material to deliver coach/mentoring training in the form of a ‘Mentoring Toolkit’, ‘Mentor Guide’ and ‘Mentee Guide’ as well as a variety of training resources that respond to organisations’ needs the like of:

  • Employees' Engagement
  • Talent Management
  • Succession Planning
  • Diversity
  • Retention
  • Motivation
  • Developing creativity and innovation

Shine works predominantly with the Hospitality, Leisure, Travel & Tourism industries in the South East and North West of England however, its reach is UK- wide. Shine has developed strong links with public sector organisations such as People 1 (HLTT Sector Skills Council) with whom they are currently collaborating to deliver their Women 1st Mentoring Project; Skills Active (Sector Skills Council for Active Leisure, Learning and Well-Being) with whom they collaborate to deliver mentoring training to volunteers in preparation for the 2012 Olympics and before that the North-West Development Agency and London Development Agency. Shine has also got strong links both with Middlesex University, City University and London Metropolitan University with whom it is running both mentoring and diversity projects. Shine is also working with major London museums to deliver mentoring training and preparing the ground for the launch of a Mentoring Network for London Museums. In addition Shine works with large private sectors organisations such as Virgin Active, BSI, KPMG and others.

In 2004 Shine launched the Shine Awards for Women in HLTT to celebrate female excellence in the sector. The awards have grown in popularity and, since the beginning of 2011, the awards are run by People 1st with the idea of promoting them even further. Shine continues to be part of the judging team.
