Body intelligence and business

Have you ever noticed that it's exactly when you stop focussing intensely on a frustrating problem and are doing something random - like gardening, or taking a shower, or walking, or you land on your couch with a great 'oomph', or you're washing the dishes - that you suddenly see what you couldn't see all day? Eureka! Insight arrives.

In terms of how your brain works, this is part of its design and the paradox. The harder you focus on something that evades you, the further away your ability to see the solution. That's why brainstorming is powerful. It allows you to shift into a softer focus. To access a different mind system. What body intelligence does is to train a physical state, a state that promotes the alpha brain wave.

ALPHA AND BETA BRAIN WAVES, WHAT ARE ALPHA WAVES? (8 TO 12 HZ)

Alpha brainwaves happen when the brain is in a resting state. Like the brain in neutral gear, this 'Alpha' state happens in a state of flow, as well as in some meditative states. Alpha is about being fully present, alert and waiting. Alpha waves are accompanied by calmness; the mind-body integrated.

WHAT ARE BETA WAVES? (12 TO 38 HZ)

Beta brainwaves are present when we are awake, focussing, problem solving, judging, choosing, decision making. The voice of 'Beta' is the monkey mind, or internal chatter, inner critics, excitable noise. These waves are associated with your daily activities. Beta waves are integral to normal daily effective functional thinking . However, when they shift into the higher beta levels, they translate into anxiety and stress. Top athletes brains give off alpha wave bands just before a peak performance. A study by Jung Beeman and Associates shows that people's brains were giving off alpha wave bands before they came up with insights. Research done by neuroscientists on meditation showed that when the mind is empty of the beta monkey-mind internal chatter, the more subtle whisperings of the unconscious, can be heard. This is the state when you are connected to your intuition, the lightbulb, 'Aha!' moment of insight.

Stillness is the place of healing for your body.

BODY INTELLIGENCE AND BUSINESS

What body intelligence does is to train a physical state that promotes the alpha brain wave. For attorneys, business leaders and the financial community, this means:

  • not overthinking

  • conserving your mental energy

  • staying composed under pressure

  • better self-management

  • less second guessing or over-analysing

  • access to creative solutions

ALPHA WAVE BANDS AND BEING IN THE ZONE

Olympic and professional athletes, train their brain to be in 'the zone'. Being in 'the zone' is a state of being able to tune out all distractions, the mind is empty and yet processing with incredible speed and accuracy, fully aware of everything that's happening in the moment, total mind-body integration. This is a meditative brain state. It's possible to train this state

by increasing your body intelligence.

BODY INTELLIGENCE - HOW IT WORKS

Body intelligence increases physical body-brain connections and develops intuition by learning to listen, interpret and consciously respond to the information your body communicates to you via sensation. It trains a physical state that promotes alpha brain waves. It also gives you a physical connection to joy.

SUCCESS STORY

South African professional cricketer, Rushdi Jappie, told me that since working with me on sustaining the zone, his batting average has gone from 70 to 129. That's in under two months.

SUMMARY

I only broadcast things that have worked for me. If I'm telling you something, it's because I've experienced it in my own life. My journey from a working opera singer, battling stage fright into recovering the alpha state of relaxed performance, happened through studying, teaching and eventually training body intelligence. There are many paths available in life, this is mine. I broadcast it because it's not just good for business, it's also joyful and supports the wellbeing of your body.

In his book, Blink, Malcolm Gladwell says about insight: "Can that kind of mysterious reaction be controlled? The truth is that it can. The power of knowing in that first two seconds is not a gift magically given to a fortunate few. It is an ability that we can all cultivate for ourselves."
